Ajmer's fame in Rajasthan is primarily due to two reasons: first, it was the city of Prithviraj Chauhan, and second, it is home to the Dargah Sharif of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti spent his life and propagated Islam in Ajmer, thus, Dargah is one of the most holiest places to visit in Rajasthan for Muslim devotees.
Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (1143-1236 AD) was a distinguished Sufi saint and scholar of Persian descent. Born in Sistan (present-day Iran or Afghanistan), Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti became famous for emphasising love, devotion, and service to humanity. By Air: The nearest airport is Kishangarh Airport (KQH), about 40 kilometres from Ajmer City. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or cab to get to Ajmer Dargah.
By Train: Ajmer has a dedicated Railway Station and offers various private and public transport options to reach Dargah Sharif.
By Road: Ajmer is connected with Delhi, Jaipur, and Udaipur via national highway- 8. Either you can drive your vehicle or use public transport such as govt buses, luxury private buses, or sharing taxis.
Tip: Come to Jaipur and then get comfortable public transport from 200 feet bypass with ease. It is hardly a 3 hour journey from Jaipur to Ajmer.

Baradari: This is a white marble pavilion complex situated on the southeastern embankment of the picturesque Ana Sagar Lake. This historic structure offers a captivating blend of Mughal architecture and a serene lakeside setting. The Baradari is believed to have been constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. The lake, swings, food stalls, and well-maintained garden offer a good atmosphere to spend time with kids and family.
Taragarh Mosque: This is basically a fort located on Taragarh Hill. The mosque established near the fort is around 250 years old. Taragarh Mosque is as important for Muslim devotees as Dargah Sharif. However, either you have your own vehicle or hire a private auto to reach Taragarh, as no public transport is available on this route.
Pushkar: Pushkar, however, may not hold significant value for Muslim devotees; still, it is an excellent place for exploration. Located 25 kilometres from Ajmer, Pushkar is an ancient and religious city, significant for Hindu pilgrims. You can wander in the colourful streets of Pushkar and also experience the thousand-year-old ghats and sarovar near the world's only Brahma temple.
