One of Baba’s disciples, Harvard professor and chemist Richard Alpert, has a famous story associated with him. He came to India to research anthropology and reached Baba’s ashram. Being a chemist, he gave Baba a heavy dose of a drug and waited for his reaction. The drug had no effect on Neem Karoli Baba, and instead, Baba revealed many truths about Alpert’s life. Alpert became his disciple and adopted the name Lakshman Das.

Note: Taking the Ranikhet Express (Train No. 15013) from Delhi will get you to Kathgodam by 5 a.m. From there, shared cabs are readily available outside the station, allowing you to reach the ashram without any hassle.
