In Delhi, there was a grand residence of Sawai Jai Singh, the King of Jaipur and a key advisor in the Mughal administration, which was referred to as a "Bangla" due to its grandeur. In the 18th century, Raja Sawai Jai Singh, focusing on his empire in Jaipur, gifted this Bangla to the then Sikh ruler, Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh pledged to dedicate this Bangla to the service of the Almighty, resulting in its transformation. It was converted into a Gurdwara and has since remained a highly sacred place for followers of Sikhism.
